How long to boil an egg

Here’s where boiling eggs may differ. If you’re just cooking one or two eggs, five minutes is perfect for a runny yolk, but seven minutes gives a more firmly set, spoonable, yolk.

For me, 10 minutes is the sweet spot for a hard cooked egg, and 7 minutes is perfect for soft-boiled.

When the timer goes off, drain the water and add in cold water. Allow to sit for a few minutes and repeat the process.

How to peel the eggs

The eggs are ready for peeling! Under running cold water, peel the PERFECT EGG!

Tap the bottom of a soft boiled egg to remove a little of the shell. It’s optional to slide a small spoon between the egg and its shell, and slide it around the egg to loosen the shell. But honestly with my method, I never have to do this.

I normally just peel the eggs with my hands, like I do in a hard boiled egg recipe.

Repeat the peeling process with the remaining eggs, and enjoy! Grab the delicious “egg” recipes to try at the bottom of this post.

Practicing hospitality

Friends, do you ever let insecurities prevent you from extending hospitality and hosting friends?

We all get out of the habit of hosting, or we let silly reasons and excuses get in the way to not invite people over.

When I press through, there’s always a satisfied feeling in my heart when we say our goodbyes to our guests. I know that it’s not about me, but all about them. It feels good to stretch myself (and pocketbook) to open our home, for even one small get-together of friends or neighbors!

I encourage you this spring to dust off the outside table, buy a new flower pot, worry less about making mistakes or the imperfections in your cooking or whatever it is that gets in your way, and make that invite!

Think of it as practicing, if you need to. Because practicing will make it much easier the next time you host.

Happy almost Easter week!
