Can you spot the differences? On this #ToiletTuesday tell us which youâd choose: Option 1: To build a beautiful bathroom for your customers to codeâŚor Option 2: To build a beautiful bathroom that serves the needs of people who need space, grab bars on both sides, somewhere to put garbage, something to lean against and a âjust in caseâ emergency button that can actually be reached if on the floor. What would you choose? I know Iâd build it the #BuildingBetterBathrooms way just like Rob Reid did for both new McDonaldâs locations. Image description: Two grey tiled washrooms showing the corner the toilet is in. The first image is missing the beyond code accessibility features and locations. #AccessibilityMatters#BeyondCode#BuildingBetterBathrooms#GrabBars#HealthCraft#PublicWashroom#GetItRightTheFirstTime#Construction#Contractors#Plumbing#WashroomFixtures#OBC

Becoming rentABLE

Short-term rental hosts and property managers keep in mind that the ADA does NOT apply in creating an accessible bathroom in your short-term rental! You will not get sued from where you put your grab bars or if you have a roll-in shower or step-in shower. What is important is designing your space to meet the needs of your renters. Julie's example here is perfect. Thanks for creating and sharing!

As a business owner, you know that accidents can happen at any time, and the last thing you want is for your patrons to be in harm's way. With high traffic areas, it's not uncommon for a car to spin out of control and smash right into your storefront or outside dining area. This can cause thousands of dollars in property damage and make your customers feel unsafe. Fortunately, there's a solution that can give you peace of mind and protect your establishment at the same time. By installing bollards along the edges of your sidewalk, you create a protective barrier that minimizes the damage a car can cause. Not only will this protect your storefront, but it will also keep your patrons safe from harm. At 1-800-BOLLARDS, we're here to help you choose the perfect bollards for your restaurant or store. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you protect your establishment. https://lnkd.in/gYa2Yeu#1800bollards #urbanarchitecture #construction #projectmanagement #civilengineering #constructionsite #builders #contractor #Bollards #Safety #IndustrialDesign #architecturaldesign #security #safety #safetyfirst

Very important message for VRMs. Let's start to clear up the ADA confusion...- ADA does NOT apply in creating an accessible bathroom in your short-term rental! - You will not get sued from where you put your grab bars or if you have a roll-in shower or step-in shower. - What is important is designing your space to meet the needs of your renters.

I like to build things

When I go out to lunch from the office, I usually drive the same road that takes me by a burned-down restaurant. All that remains are the scorched partial cinder block walls painted with the restaurant's name. It's an eerily large tombstone. I'm sure that restaurant, both it's building and the services provided, required an incredible effort of coordinating, constructing, and curating to be open for business. It could've very well taken years to put together. And in a single day, a single spark destroyed it all. Deconstruction - or sometimes more violently, destruction - is exponentially easier than its inverse of construct. I have no idea what caused this restaurant to burn down, though I can guess it was a combination of unfortunate circ*mstances. However - if there was a bad actor at play, I can imagine that they didn't need permission to undo the years of effort it took to build such an establishment. And if by chance they did, I'm pretty sure what the answer would be. Isn't permission an integral part of building something? We need permission to construct and occupy buildings, to do business and serve alcohol, to sit someone down and take their order. The very nature of building requires permission - otherwise by definition, aren't we are actually acting in destruction without permission?Do I need permission to take what's not mine? If I did, then it wouldn't be stealing.Do I need permission to trap humans in unhealthy workplaces? If I did, then it wouldn't be exploitation.Do I need permission to charge the highest possible price a market can bear? If I did, then it wouldn't be price gouging.Building something worth building will always be harder than its inverse, and it will always require permission. When we opt to take the easier choice, shouldn't we be asking ourselves what we're destroying in the process? When we stop caring about asking for permission, aren't we trading the architectâs desk for a wrecking ball?Maybe we should rephrase âIt's better to ask for forgiveness than for permissionâ to âIt's best to ask for forgiveness when you don't have permission.â#MitchellsMusings #building
