Can guys get their private area waxed? ›

Will my male Brazilian wax hurt? The short answer is “yes”. The long answer is that it has its painful moments but not nearly as painful as you think. It's a quick pain and generally does not linger.

Soft wax is the most common type of wax used in mens waxing salons. It is spread over the area on the body without being heated and can be used on large areas since only a thin layer of wax is needed. And since soft wax sticks to the skin very well, it will remove even some of the finest hairs on the body.

If you usually shave, stop shaving about three weeks before your appointment. This is particularly important for male Brazilian waxes, because the hair down there usually grows slower than the rest of the body. The night before your appointment, gently exfoliate the area to prevent ingrown hairs.

Smear the wax onto your skin in the same direction as hair growth. This will make the removal process easier and less painful. Apply the wax slightly past where the hair stops growing, which will give you a “tab” that you can grab onto when you're ready to pull the wax off. Let the wax harden for 30 seconds.

Physical preparation for your first Male Brazilian Wax

Don't trim your hair, and don't shave the genital area for at least three weeks before coming in for your Male Brazilian Wax appointment. The hair must be long enough for the wax to grip, so that your therapist only has to go over each area once, or at most, twice.

Generally speaking, most men come and get waxed every 4 – 6 weeks. To be clear, you will not be completely hair-free for that length of time, but we obviously need your hair to have grown back a small amount to be able to wax it off again. For your first few intimate waxes, we recommend that you return every 4-5 weeks.

We're not going to beat around the bush here (pun intended). The bad news is that if you're a complete waxing virgin down there, you may experience some discomfort during your first male intimate wax.
