Instructions
Instructions are for 8 servings. Please modify as needed.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, mix the dry donut ingredients together. Stir in the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Fill greased donut pan circles about ⅔ of the way full with batter. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Meanwhile make the frosting by placing all the ingredients in a medium shallow bowl and stir well to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness to your liking.
Dip cooled donuts into the frosting and place on a piece of parchment to chill.
To make the chocolate drizzle, place the ingredients for the chocolate drizzle in a small bowl and stir well to combine. Drizzle donuts with chocolate drizzle if desired.

This recipe makes 8 servings, so if you made 8 donuts then yes, a serving is 1 donut.

Used the almond flour variation...donuts taste great! They even have a crumb! I was able to get 10 donuts/servings using a silicon mold. I also had some extra buttercream frosting left over...easily saved for another treat.

The recipe for just 4 servings just doesn't work...I used almond flour so made the adjustment with the eggs, had to add an extra egg as there was no moisture to even stir the ingredients. Just took them out of the oven and they are like little bricks. Had my hopes up to have a donut....seems that often recipes when reduced for less servings are just not correct

It's baking soda, as listed in the recipe.

Just did the almond flour version of this. They were just ok. Won't make them again, as they are very ingredient intense for something that is just okay. I think that in addition to the adjusted quantities of almond flour and eggs, the butter needs to be adjusted downward for the almond flour version. These were too oily from the butter, given that the almond flour is less absorbent. My 11 year old thought they were more like a corn muffin than a donut.

Those are sooooooooo yummy!! I made the first batch with the icing and omitted the chocolate drizzle: loved them!
Second batch, no time to do the icing, oh my god! So good on their own!
Since I did not have a donut mould, I poured the batter in cupcake moulds, works perfectly!!!
Thank you!27

There are some brands of dairy-free cream cheese available now, but be sure to check ingredients!

For the donuts, melted would be fine!

Wow! Tried these for the first time tonight. They definitely taste good and I really like the texture. Even my boyfriend really liked them (there were expletives used in a positive way!), and he is super picky!
I did make a few modifications-1) I used a mini cupcake tin and filled them about 3/4 full. It worked like a charm!! The recipe made exactly 24 of them, so 1 serving was three cakes, and I baked them for 15 minutes instead of 20.
2) I added cinnamon to the frosting. Unfortunately I did it to taste, so I’m unsure how much I used, but I would guess somewhere around 1.5 Tbs. I really loved the addition.
3) I made some with and some without the chocolate drizzle. I preferred them without.
4) I was out of coconut oil so I used butter for the whole recipe.
5) I added two squirts of liquid stevia to the frosting. I think it gave a better flavor and texture than using the erythritol by itself.
Whew! I think that’s it. But again - great base recipe!! Have been told by the boyfriend to hold onto this one!Reply: #32

Our nutrition information always includes all ingredients that are not listed as (optional). In this case, none of the ingredients have that designation so the nutrition information does include the frosting and drizzle.

The eggs are the foundation of the recipe to make it keto, and the rest of the powdered ingredients are for sweetness and a doughnut-like consistency. You might want to try adding more vanilla or almond extract?

The conversion for almond flour was removed about a year ago due to inconsistent results. "You can substitute the ½ cup of coconut flour with 2 cups blanched almond flour. If you use almond flour, use 2 eggs instead of the default 6 eggs."
